Fixed Price Services
The basis of the Ultra
Tune system is the fixed price concept. For a given service the customer knows in advance
the total cost of the service, including parts and labour; there are no hidden extras.
Although Ultra Tune started business by specialising in tuning vehicles, within a few years the market demanded a greater range of fixed price services. By 1988 there were 21 fixed price services being offered. Currently a full range of automotive services and repairs are available to the public.
The key to the fixed price concept is efficiency. All technicians are trained to systematically perform each function in a logical sequence. This achieves thoroughness and reduces expensive wasted labour time.
The fixed price services are the core of the franchisee's business, but each centre also performs the full range of mechanical work as required by the customer.
Ultra Tune services the needs of both private motorists and owners of fleet vehicles.
The Ultra Tune Vision is "To be the trusted quality motor vehicle service provider".
Consequently, Ultra Tune is committed to the highest standards of service and workmanship. The Operations Manual that Franchisees are obliged to adhere to sets out the standards expected of Ultra Tune franchisees.
Following these procedures ensures a uniform approach, so that a customer can walk into any Ultra Tune centre in South Australia and the NT and receive the same quality of service in the same familiar surroundings. This uniformity builds up customer confidence and reinforces Ultra Tune's professional image. Adherence to the procedures is a very important obligation of the franchisee.
ULTRA TUNE FIXED PRICE SERVICES
The fixed price services offered by Ultra Tune (SA) Pty Ltd are listed below. The Vehicle Service Reports (shown at the bottom of this page) are used for the Ultra Tune Diagnosis, Ultra Tune, Ultra Lube, Ultra Service Standard, Ultra Service Special or Ultra Service Premium.
N.B. Certain fixed price services include the provision of mandatory parts as specified below.
1. Ultra Tune (Carburettor)
After
a Dynamometer Ultra Tune your car will start, idle and accelerate smoothly
without using excessive fuel. You’ll feel the difference the moment you drive
away. Your engine is tuned to the manufacturer’s specifications using the
latest technology sophisticated electronic diagnostic equipment.
A full engine diagnosis is performed, the carburettor is adjusted and quality brand spark plugs, in-line fuel-filter and points replaced. Plug leads, boots, ignition coil and distributor cap, rotor and condenser are inspected and replaced if necessary (some electronic ignition components excluded, plus air filter if required at customer’s expense.)
2. Ultra Tune (EFI)
The
Ultra Tune for fuel injected vehicles. After a Dynamometer Ultra Tune, your car
will start, idle and accelerate smoothly without using excessive fuel. You’ll
feel the difference the moment you drive away. Your engine is tuned to the
manufacturer’s specifications using the latest technology sophisticated
electronic diagnostic equipment.
A full engine diagnosis is performed, and quality brand spark plugs replaced (excluding long life type). Plug leads, boots, ignition coil and distributor cap and rotor are inspected.
Includes fuel flow and pressure check, on car throttle body clean, check of idle up motor, fault code extraction (using the Sun Snap-On scanner) and diagnosis of mechanical condition. (plus air filter and fuel filter if required at customers expense.)
Double warranty – 12 months/20,000 km.
3. Ultra Lube
High quality
Valvoline engine oil and quality brand oil filter plus
check top up the coolant, brake fluid, clutch fluid, auto trans fluid - this service
includes a brake inspection. Synthetic oil available on request at additional
customer cost.
4. Ultra Service Standard
Includes
Ultra Lube, high quality Valvoline engine oil, quality brand oil filter
replacement, inspection of all critical components plus a full 110 point Dynamometer
Ultra Tune [either an EFI (2) or Carburettor type (1)] (plus cost of
quality brand air filter if required) EFI + $20.
Recommended every 6 months/10,000km
5. Ultra Service Special
A complete annual check up for your car. Includes
a comprehensive 110 point Dynamometer Ultra Tune [either an EFI (2) or Carburettor
type (1)] including parts, a full 150-point service including Ultra Lube,
inspection and report (plus cost of air filter if required.) EFI + $20.
Recommended every 12 months/20,000km
6. Ultra Service Premium
Important
for all cars but particularly those that have not been serviced for some time
or are new to you. Includes all elements of the Ultra Standard and Ultra
Special services plus coolant change, brake fluid flush, automatic transmission
service, wheel bearing repack, rear axle drain and refill, replace wiper blades
and brake globes and check valve clearances (if applicable.)
Recommended every 2 years/40,000km
7. Ultra Tune Diagnosis (carburettor)
This
is the first part of an Ultra Tune and consists of comprehensive analysis of the
engine including; exhaust gas, carburettor function, ignition system and
mechanical operation of the engine.
In the event that a vehicle has a problem that prevents Ultra Tune completing a satisfactory tune on the vehicle, we will advise the customer of the possible problem (in writing) and suggest a course of action to rectify the fault.
As we have spent time working on the vehicle to determine the faults we charge an Ultra Tune diagnosis fee. When the faults are rectified this fee is deducted from the cost of the Ultra Tune.
8. Ultra Tune Diagnosis (EFI)
This
is the first part of an Ultra Tune and consists of comprehensive analysis of the
engine including; exhaust gas, Electronic Fuel Injection function, Engine
Management system code reading by a data scanner, fuel pressure and flow
readings and mechanical operation of the engine.
In the event that a vehicle has a problem that prevents Ultra Tune completing a satisfactory tune to be completed on the vehicle, we will advise the customer of the possible problem (in writing) and suggest a course of action to rectify the fault.
As we have spent time working on the vehicle to determine the faults we charge an Ultra Tune diagnosis fee. When the faults are rectified this fee is deducted from the cost of the Ultra Tune.
9. Post Diagnosis Ultra Tune (both EFI and carburetor)
The
second part of an Ultra Tune (1 & 2) in which the vehicle is actually tuned.
If a customer returns within 30 days of having an Ultra Tune Diagnosis (7 &
8), a Post diagnosis tune can be performed so long as any fuel delivery,
ignition or mechanical problems, which would prevent a satisfactory tune, have
been rectified.
The cost of the Diagnosis is deducted from the Ultra Tune cost so the cost is the same.
This is not available without an Ultra Tune Diagnosis.
10. Disc Pad Replacement
Replace disc pads, inspect, clean and adjust
brake and wheel components. Excludes hydraulics.
11. Disc Brake Service (rear wheel drive vehicles)
Includes pad replacement, disc machining,
inspection and repacking of front wheel bearings. Excludes hydraulics.
12. Disc Brake Service (on car)
Includes pad replacement, disc machining for
front wheel drive or rear wheel disc vehicles. Excludes hydraulics.
13. Brake Shoe Replacement
Replacement of brake shoes plus inspection,
cleaning and adjustment of brakes. Excludes hydraulics.
14. Drum Brake Service
Includes shoe replacement, machining brake
drums, inspection, cleaning and adjustment of brake, wheel components and handbrake.
Excludes hydraulics.
15. Air Conditioning Service (R12)
Reclaiming, recycling and replacement of R12
operating gas, inspection, adjustment of drive belts and pulleys, inspection of hoses and
components and cleaning of condenser. (Regulations apply to the repair of R12 air
conditioning systems. Ultra Tune centres and technicians concerned must be registered to
work on R12 air conditioning systems. It is an offence to purge R12 refrigerant into the
atmosphere.)
16. Air conditioning (R 134a)
Evacuation
of refrigerant and replacement with R134a operating gas, inspection, adjustment
of drive belts and pulleys, inspection of hoses and components and cleaning of
condenser.
17. Ultra Tune AIR FRESH
Includes inspection
of the effectiveness of the vehicle air conditioner and report vent temperatures
and possible presence of bacteria and unpleasant odours. Clean the airbox/ plenium
chamber of debris Treat the evaporator with AIRFRESH sanitisere to control fungi
and bacteria. Treat the water collection reservoir with AIRFRESH Premium gel
to control bacterial slime and apply purfume of the customers choice after treatment
completed. Please note - The treatment of your vehicle uses natural Manaka oil
and Tea Tree Oil that have anti fungal and anti bacterial properties. However
these oils emit strong but pleasant odours that will decline in strength as
time passes.
18. Automatic Transmission Service
Includes cleaning and/or replacement of
filter, replacement of fluid and adjustments as needed.
19. Vehicle Check and Safety Report
Includes engine diagnosis, an Ultra Service
Minor without the oil or filter change, but it does include the brake inspection and
adjustment. On EFI vehicles fuel system analysis is not completed.
20. Manufacturer's Handbook Service
Service according to vehicle manufacturers’
handbook specifications.

22. Plug Replacement
While some
of our competitors call this a ‘tune-up’, it is not a Dynamometer Ultra Tune.
But it may be all your car needs for the moment. Includes 4 spark plugs, points,
visual under hood checks and timing adjustment. Note: Not
suitable for cars with running problems.
Warranty on replacement parts only.
